Welcome back to Drastic Gymnastics!
I am EXCITED to tell you that the new gymnasium building is in progress. We have had a few glitches along the way that have delayed construction but we hope to be partially completed by the 19th of September when we will celebrate World Gymnastics Day along with all the other gymnastics nations of the world and everyone is welcome to come to the gym to have a look around the 1st phase of our new gymnasium.
Lessons this term will begin on the 21st of September and end on the 28th of November.
All recreational classes (classes between 1.30pm and 4.30) will now be at the new gymnasium at 14 Epping Road Mount Pleasant ( there is a large sign on the gate saying Studio 14 and Epping road is accessible from Upper East Road, Tudley Road and Quorn Avenue)
With the various delays in the construction of the gymnasium we will not be putting up the cabled equipment that the club already owns, as we would rather like to focus on the children’s floor and vault routines as some of the boys and girls have moved up a level after the Pre Nationals and Nationals competitions last term. Along with the children’s fundamental movements, elements and work on aerial awareness for these disciplines that we would usually work on in 3rd term. So it will still be hard work for all and so much fun will be had in our new venue.
For this term timetables will remain the same despite the new venue but it will most likely change in the 1st Term of 2016
MONDAY: 2.15-3.00: 4-6 year olds WEDNESDAY: 1.30-2.15: 4-6 year olds
3.00-4.00: 7 and over 2.15-3.00: 7-9 year olds
3.00-4.00:10 and over
FRIDAY: 1.30-2.15: 4-6 year olds SATURDAY: 9.00 - 9.45: 4-6 year olds
2.15-3.00: 7-9 year olds 9.45- 10.30: 7-9 year olds
3.00-4.00: 10 and above 10.30-11.15: 10 and over
Fees are laid out for a term but you are welcome to pay half termly if it is easier on your budget.
These are broken down below
Once a week for the 10 weeks = US$100.00 Two a week/2 hours for 10 weeks = US$200.00
Three hours week for 10 weeks = US$260.00 Four hours for the 10 weeks = US$350.00
While we are all happy to be moving to our own venue there is still much work and fund raising to be done till the gym is finally finished. We have the basics but there is still a long way to go so we ask for your help in the fundraising ventures in any way possible and to bear with us as the venues changes through the years as our club grows in size and equipment. So I would like to ask you all to be part of our next chapter and make the Drastic Gymnastics team and family even better than before.
As with any new start and move there will be some teething issues, so please bear with us in the parking and waiting room areas. We are currently sharing the present parking area with Carol Henchie School of Dancing and Boddy and Malunga Physiotherapists but we do hope to expand the parking area in the near future. All the Drastic Coaches and myself are looking forward to an exciting new term in our club's brand new home and hope to see you all soon in the new venue.
Kindest regards

May 2015
Welcome back to Drastic Gymnastics!
Second term is going to be a full one!!!
But first to answer the question everyone is asking, you will be glad to know that we have received an extension on our notice to leave the gymnasium, we will only be moving in 3rd term, so building continues!
We are starting all club lessons on the 11th of May and the entire club will start working on their routines for the Pre Nationals which will be held on the 4th of July (Please try and keep this Saturday free). Then the top gymnasts in each section and age group will qualify for the National Championships on the 1st of August.
After the clubs amazing performance at the inter club competition we are expecting great performances at these events.
Unfortunately with our imminent move there will be no more renovations and repairs going on at our current gymnasium that are not essential, so please bear with us through this transition period as we begin to pack down the gymnasium.
The partnership between us and Carol Henchie School of Dance who operates out of Studio 14 will carry on through Second term as many parents enjoyed the savings in 1st term. So any DG gymnast will receive a 10% discount off their 2nd term ballet fees. To receive these discounts simply show the ballet teacher a copy of this letter signed by me and the 10% will come off your ballet fees. As of third term we will be operating next door to Carol Henchie School of Dance so this should be very useful for all the children who do both activities.
In this term we will also have a low level judge’s course, as without judges we cannot have any competitions for the children to show case their achievements. So anyone who is interested in being involved in judging or being more involved in the world of gymnastics just let me know.
Competitions are a great opportunity for your children to shine and gain valuable performance experience, so we hope to see most of the club gymnasts in these competitions along with their parents supporting them.
Drastic Gymnastics Track Suits are available while stocks last and these usually take about 6 weeks to produce so my advice is to order now as your child will need this tracksuit to compete in Pre Nationals and Nationals and it will keep them warm through the cold season.
Drastic Gymnastics Kit and Leotards are also available from me in the office.
This terms class timetable has stayed the same as last year as the timetable shows:-
MONDAY: 2.15-3.00: 4-6 year olds WEDNESDAY: 1.30-2.15: 4-6 year olds
3.00-4.00: 7 and over 2.15-3.00: 7-9 year olds

3.00-4.00: 10 and above 10.30-11.15: 10 and over
Fees are laid out for the Whole Term; you are however still welcome to pay half termly if it is easier on your budget.
Fees appear to have gone up, but it is actually a 12 week term so they have actually stayed the same
These are broken down below
Once a week for the 12 weeks US$120.00 Two Hours or Twice a week for the 12 weeks US$240.00
Three hours a week for the 12 weeks US$300.00 Four hours or four times a week for 12 weeks US$380.00
This term we will not be taking half term in line with the schools timetable due to the competitions.
Instead the club will be taking a week off from the 12th – 18th of July as half the club’s coaches will be out of the country on National coaching duties.
Great to have you back this term and I will see you during the course of the term

January 2015
Compliments of the New Year and welcome back to Drastic Gymnastics!
This first term is going to be an exciting one!!! We are starting all lessons on the 19th of January and the entire club will start working on their new routines for a small inter club competition at the end of this term which we will then build onto for their routines for the National Championships for next term.
We still have our partnership with Carol Henchie School of dance who operates out of Studio 14 which isjust up the road from us. This will see any DG gymnast receiving a 10% discount off their 1st term ballet fees.
I would like to take this opportunity to say well done to all the boys and girls from Drastic Gymnastics who represented Zimbabwe in the Region 5 games in Namibia in December of 2014. We had some excellent results from this year’s team and a massive haul of medals! Well done for all your hard work!!
As an appeal to the parents of the club please could you let me know if you have any interest in the inner workings or judging of gymnastics and competitions set up as we are in desperate need of more help at these events throughout the year. The list of jobs that need doing are endless and vary in difficulty so any help is always greatly appreciated. Also Thank you to those parents for stepping up to the plate and did fantastically in their various roles in competition last year and we hope to see you again this year.
Drastic Gymnastics Track Suits are available to order and these usually take about 6 weeks to produce so my advice is to order now for the winter term as your child will need this tracksuit to compete in Pre Nationals and Nationals and it will keep them warm and dry during the rainy season. Drastic Gymnastics Kit and Leotards are also available from me in the office and we try and keep a stock off all sizes for your convenience.

Most of you will notice that we have been busy painting during the break but the improvements and renovations will not stop there with changes happening in the changing rooms and with the gym equipment on the cards for this term. We are however looking for support to compete the painting as we need a further 60 litres of gloss to complete the bottom half of the gym and 80 litres of PVA to do the top half. So if anyone is willing to sponsor some paint in return for having their corporate or company’s logo or name painted onto the wall as advertisement, please let me know.
